Bicester Junior Festival a success


The victorious U10B team!

Sunday 6th March saw the Bicester Hockey Club Junior Fox Festival for 2016.

37 teams from 7 clubs took part across U8, U10 and U12 age groups.

The U8 honours were taken by Banbury A and Oxford B respectively

In the U10 age group Bicester had an excellent run of results winning one of two under 10 groups and finishing second to Thame A in the other.

Goals were scored by Finlay Weedon, Issac Findlay and Kieran Matthews. Flora Mccullogh on her tournament debut in goal had a great day conceding only a single goal over all five games.

To round off the day Bicester claimed honours in two of the U12 groups with Bicester B and Bicester C finishing winners of their groups and Oxford A claiming victory in the third group only narrowly beating Bicester A who took second place.

Next Sunday sees junior hockey teams from around Oxfordshire converge on Bloxham School for the annual County Tournament With the chance to represent Oxfordshire as the prize, all the Bicester teams will be going with high hopes following the successes at home.

The standard of hockey being played across all the age groups showed that the sport has a bright future in Oxfordshire and Bicester in particular has a thriving junior section of 130 members open to 6-14 year olds
